Dubai was the first among the United Arab Emirates to introduce freehold properties. During the last few decades UAE and GCC citizens were allowed to hold a freehold property in UAE. Only in the year 2001 the government of Dubai decided to extend permission to own or lease a particular freehold property for a period of 99 years to the foreigners.
Buying or holding a freehold property means that the property will be under the name of the owner until his life time. The owner is entitled to sell or lease out the freehold property according to his discretion. The owners of the freehold property and their immediate family members will obtain renewable residential visas throughout their life time costing approximately Dhs 5000 per person.
